Sujata Rao is Senior Director of Digital Technology Strategy for Universal Music Group. She supports digital strategy initiatives by evaluating technology, infrastructure and product related aspects of companies that license UMG content. She defines technology policy and identifies long-range product opportunities in the digital music space (with a focus on NFTs and web3 technologies). With over a decade of experience in digital marketing, CRM and technology strategy, Sujata Rao understands how fans and artists can embrace the intersection of music and technology.

Sujata has mentored at music and technology hackathons around the world (SXSW, Outside Hacks, Hack the Music CDMX, Black Girls Code). Her expertise has been leveraged by startups in the Capitol 360 digital music accelerator and UMG’s Digital Innovation programming. In addition to her extensive experience in digital music, Sujata Rao has been invited to speak about women in technology by LA Mayor Eric Garcetti’s WiSTEM program.
